What is your ideal?
Ideal n; a conception of something in its most excellent form.
I hope that it is not what you find on the spot marked X. If we talk about our ideals, we will be discussing how we spend out time, our talents, our treasures, and even our thoughts. There are probably only a few events where we can say we met this ideal. I believe my wedding and honeymoon to be one of those. I was not looking for perfection, but excellent form is a great target. Not counting when I left the fireplace flue closed and filled the honeymoon room with smoke, all was excellent. There can be smaller events where we can experience this. I do not golf because I am very talented at it. Instead, I find joy being out there. After all, if you take 100 or so swings, you are bound to hit a few good ones. This is different from baseball or basketball, where I can make only 10 attempts and not hit one that day. I hope that you can envision why my ideal day on the golf course is described below.
A day on the golf course:
3 players paid: $75
3 drinks and 3 snacks: $18
Beautiful sunny afternoon – 2 weeks of waiting in Cleveland for that
Finding 4 golf balls in tall grass – 10 min of work
Waving at airplane landing at the next door airport and flying less than 150m overhead – no charge
A day of golf with my son and my dad – priceless.
When those priceless moments come, savor them. Have a Happy Friday. Remember to subscribe on the Perspectives page.
