Senses – part 1

As I was writing this post, I starting considering that sight is only one of the five senses. It might be good to examine how I use sight and whether I can view things with different perspectives. Hopefully, you too will have the chance to think about how you use your 5 senses.

The experience I will be sharing is one where I clearly display limited ability to view something from many perspectives. The good news is I can read a lot into situations that I observe, but I know that I have trained my mind to consider the feelings of any people that I am observing. Let me say that I am very good at analyzing.

I was looking at some art, a set of large tubes, which are sliced in a way to look like the quills of pens so that they come to a point, almost. Or a straw that is cut at an angle so that you can scoop the Icee instead of drink it. Each tube was about 10ft long and bright red. They were arranged with a few standing and a couple lying onto the others extending even higher into the air.

This is how I experience art. Obviously, I don’t get it, or at least I don’t get any feeling from looking at that. I understand and appreciate that an artist feels something, gathers materials, then expresses themselves in these art forms. But I was not on the receiving end of the expression on this one and may not be on many others. Perhaps I analyze too much what I see. That is what made me a good Engineer in my first career.

I realize beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So, I think I should share a little of my art with you……

Ah, a thing of beauty. I am just saying…..

I would love for you to share this post if you enjoyed it or have good thoughts from reading it. Leave a comment to share with me and thank you for your time here.

Dave, you are correct. What others may view as art, I look at and laugh. God made us all a little different.
