Holiday Poem

Twas the night before Christmas and all thru Heron Crest,

Not a creature was stirring, even the ones in their nests.

The cold was unbearable, the roads still a mess,

But the excitement was there,

And Bob finally tried to rest.

He did not dream of candy canes surrounded with sugar plums,

Instead of a far away island where he heard unusual drums.

Then a group went out onto a boat

This was not a trip for fun,

Bob was there to fish

Expecting to land the big one.

Out they sailed, the boat was not fast,

Finding the spot his line was cast.

Bob tried all morning

Taking food against his will

He would not give up today

With catching only a bluegill.

Then his line went out fast

It was more than a tuggle

When he locked down the reel,

It became an epic struggle.

For an hour he fought

Against what must be a giant fish,

Getting it onto the boat

Would be a great Christmas wish.

He could see the fish now

What a trophy it would make

The story with the glory

He would not have to fake

The final pull was huge

One the fish would completely dread,

When suddenly there were huge paws

Of Hildie(large dog) jumping on Bob’s bed.

“Nooooo” yelled Bob,

“Had the fish in my sight.

But Merry Christmas to all,

After all, it was quite a night”.
