A Dimmer or an On-Off Switch?

I feel that people can have one of two stances affecting the atmosphere around them. This can be either physical or emotional. I am not at all referring to the level of light, but whether the person has the concept of how much of anything. A dimmer lives in between, probably never all on and never all off. The switch people do not recognize that there is an in between position. It is simply one or the other. A few examples are needed to clarify that there is not a negative view about either stance.

When my classroom gets too hot, I walk back and crack a few windows to blend the cool air with the warmer air. The reverse is true to, because it is all about the blend of the two opposing air temperatures, so that I can spend the day at a consistent temperature without messing with the windows for more than a slight adjustment. Several of my students on the other hand will throw open the windows and within a couple of minutes the room is freezing, so then they close the windows, yet before long they are too hot again. All heat, all cool, there seems to be no middle ground. An on-off person says I do not know that or can give you all of the details. A dimmer seems to know a little about everything.

Good things to think about:
On-off people – they tend to get things completely done, very focused and can even multitask if the tasks have the same objective. They have big laughs, play hard, and you do not want to tick them off.
Dimmer people – can have a bunch of different things going and make progress on each of them. Desire to balance conditions, feelings, and have stability.

Tips to think about:
There is an in between which provides safety in a lot of areas. Going all in can gain progress more quickly. Either way, realize that you are in control of this choice in spite of what you may first choose instinctively.
