Me Or Not Me

Who are we really? What makes people know who we really are? Do you sometimes feel that you have too many faces?

I like watching how people interact. Interact with each other, interact with situations, objects, or animals. I spend time watching people when I am at the zoo, the aquarium, a little race car course, laser tag, or a sporting event. How people watch a movie, react to a comedian, or listen to a motivating speaker is reveals how they feel inside. Not that I am judging, but i am intrigued by their responses to each of these.

What events or activities do you feel show the true you? After I spent too much time myself trying to think of specific examples, I briefly became concerned that I would begin to fake my behavior or feelings. No, I decided, it is good for each of us to be aware of how we present ourselves in responsive situations.

Different people bring out different aspects of your personality. Different kinds of events bring out different parts of your character. Moments that move us bring out different strengths of emotions which we have in us.

I like that person that I am with my grandchildren. Always willing to play. Looking for ways to make them laugh and how to engage their minds. I would like to be that person a lot more often, and try to be this way with my students, with my friends, with people younger than me, and simply with people around me. All of you is good, so it is fine to bring the part that you feel at the time you are feeling it.

May you be a little closer to being that person on this Happy Friday.
