Like even good. Really good. But it was a surprise in several ways, especially because it was so good.
Just disembarking from a cruise back at the home port, we hustled to get to the pick up point for an Uber. Because we toted large suitcases plus bags, our hands were too full for us schedule a ride using our phones during the walk. Once we planted ourselves by the parking lot, it was a fury of phone use to find a ride. Everyone else standing there using their phones or they were already waiting for the identified vehicle to pull up. We had no luck.
When we finally looked at each other while sagging our shoulders from dismay, we realized that we could be waiting a long time. A car door opened from the car directly in front of us and a man got out of his vehicle. We glared at him wearily while he walked towards us, but he was looking at his phone with concern.
He said, “Any chance that you need an Uber? My pick up just cancelled me.”
Our fortune had instantly changed. We got a ride, but not just any ride. As we walked behind the car, he went to open the trunk and we both noticed it. This was not just an Uber ride, getting picked up in an old car that had 100,000 miles on it. This was like walking out to the plane and finding out it was a fighter jet, or Airforce One.
Okay, maybe not that good. Probably more like getting to fly on a Cessna with a personal pilot. We got picked up in a Tesla.
The whole ride to our destination we pried the driver for information on the vehicle. It was fascinating and made for a quick 25 minute trip. Not too shabby at all.
May you a have really not too bad, probably even good, actually a very Happy Friday.
