Should Have Known Better

Ever had someone tell you that? Have you told yourself that?

Don’t get mad at yourself when that happens. Our nature is to explore the world around us. We were designed this way, yet also given the capacity to predict and process events before they happen.

When it comes to making big decisions, this is basically an unacceptable ending to the scenario. Seek all input before spending a ton of money rather than act upon impulse. When we bought a time share in Florida, my wife said that this could make us take a week long vacation every year as a family. Not only was that true, but it provided opportunities for us to give weeks to each of our kids families. I hear all of the stupid advertisements about time shares. None of that was true for us. Good decision for the right reason because we thought it through until we had some solid piece of logic to go on.

Concerning the small things of life, we are meant to enjoy them. I was amused by my son’s cat tucked inside a bag. When I touched the outside of the bag, he whipped a paw around to try to hit what was there. In a whimsical tone and sort of singing, my son said, “I wouldn’t do that.” I was a little faster than the cat, and both he and I knew it. To keep my amusement going, I tried a couple more times. To my surprise, the cat anticipated a touch and we went for the bag at the same time. The result was he got a claw in my thumb. Still enjoyed playing with him.

Not going to lie: wasn’t the first time the cat got me and I doubt it will be the last. By the way, I generated the attached picture using AI. It looks a lot like the cat that got me. Imagine me touching the side of that bag and the cat whipping a paw around to snare whatever what was. That pretty much covers the experience.

Have a Happy Friday.
