What do you do when you are not the biggest or the strongest?
Unfortunately, I think most people feel like they should not bother trying or simply give up after a little effort. It is very understandable to feel that way.
Always being the shortest one out there in whatever I did, I decided that could not stop me from doing what I wanted to do.
Sure I would never be a lineman on a football team or single handedly move a couch. Though my four foot six inch tall daughter once moved a couch across the room and half way up the stairs by herself because it did not belong down there. If I did not know before seeing her do this amazing feat, then I knew afterwards that it was not about the size of the person, it was about the size of the heart in the person.
I learned how to spike a volleyball by from a 5ft tall girl. Once I learned it, I became a league all-star. Quite amusing to see me out there with the 6ft 6 guys as an all-star. I developed the determination to succeed no matter the circumstances.
Some important things I poured into my efforts of agility and speed were clever thinking and improvisation.
After a jerk decided to tackle me in a flag football game, I was unable to lift my right arm over my head by our next game. As the quarterback, I had to make some adjustments. We ran the ball every which way and flipped it to each other like a hot potato. Late in the game when I was cornered near the side on 4th down, I noticed my teammate was open in the endzone because they knew by then that I could not throw the ball. So I threw it left handed for the TD.
There are ways to get the job done when you don’t have the best physical aspects to work with. Have heart, you will do it.
Hope you have a Happy Friday.
